Special Guest: Dave Brewer Deluxe Combo

For over three decades guitarist Dave Brewer has been the backbone for many of Australia’s most influential acts in the Jazz, Soul, Blues, Funk and World genres, including The Elks, The Dynamic Hepnotics, The Mighty Reapers and The Catholics. His skills have also seen him invited to play with some of the most respected blues musicians on the planet.

Dave began his professional career playing with Perth blues band The Elks in 1976, touring Australia extensively until the band shifted base from Perth to Sydney in 1980. The Elks then undertook two years of constant touring up and down the East Coast, before folding in 1982.

Dave stayed on in Sydney to form the Champions (with Sally King) then joined The Dynamic Hepnotics, followed by The Mighty Reapers and later, world music outfit The Catholics (led by Lloyd Swanton of The Necks).

In 2000, Dave moved from Sydney back to his hometown of Perth, settling back into the artistic Fremantle community and has kept busy playing regularly and recording with other notable West Australian artists Lucky Oceans, Natalie Gillespie, The DooDaddies and others,

plus his own band, the Deluxe Combo.

In 2008, Dave released his acclaimed debut solo album “Life of Riley” under his own name with Lucky Oceans on pedal steel guitar. The album enjoyed strong acclaim, with The Australian’s Tony Hillier bestowing 4 1⁄2 stars, and calling it “truly outstanding”.

Dave’s second album, 2013’s “Night Walkin’” also received great reviews with Rhythms Magazine’s Trevor J Leeden declaring the release “FANTASTIC !” His 2021 release “Long Road Back Home” has built even further on the strengths of the first two albums, and features Clayton Doley on keyboards on most tracks.

Dave rarely tours his original material, so these performances at the Cronulla Blues Fest are a rare chance to see Dave's Deluxe Combo outside of the Fremantle area!

Joining Dave's Deluxe Combo for these special Cronulla appearances will be Clayton Doley on keyboards, and ace drummer Antero Ceschin.
