The Danglin' Bros
Danglin’ Bros Set for Family Reunion
After a brief hiatus of a year or two, so family members Des, Dan, Darcy, Declan and Richard Danglin’ could venture off and “go find themselves”, plans are now in place for a reunion to bring back the highly acclaimed rockin’ rhythm & blue-grass band for some not to be missed gigs in Sydney in late November.
The brethren, also known as Kim Cheshire, Mick King, George Bibicos, Max Hopwood and Roger Ansell are renowned and respected for their fine musicianship and solid three & four part harmonies. Since the break, individual band members have lent their talents to record and tour with the likes of Jimmy Barnes, The Wheel, Richard Clapton, Lee Kernaghan, Wendy Matthews, Dale Watson (USA), Psycho Zydeco, The Navahodads, Toni Swain, Gina Jeffries, Hucker Brown and many others. Kim also released a couple of highly acclaimed solo albums.
At their dizzy heights The Danglin’ Bros were the ‘go-to’ support band for some of Australia’s rock royalty with extended tours alongside Paul Kelly & The Coloured Girls, Hunters & Collectors, James Reyne and many others. They also shared the stage with international guests such as Los Lobos, Guy Clarke, Concrete Blonde, Roy Buchanan, to name just a few.
The Brothers even found themselves as the wedding band to the stars with duties at the knot-tying ceremonies of Gary Beers (INXS), and Johhny Diesel’s wedding at Jimmy Barnes’s home in Bowral.
While more comfortable in the sweaty moist heart of urban Sydney & Melbourne venues, The Danglin’s routinely made the annual pilgrimage to Tamworth where they became favourites for those fans a bit tired of the mundane faces and voices that had been super-glued to the same stages for far too long. They even nearly had themselves one of them Gold Guitars for their hit ‘Loosen My Necktie’, only to be pipped at the post by a young mullet faced kid by the name of Keith Urban.
When asked why it felt time to get the siblings back on to the same stage, the response was immediate and in unison from all five family members, “we just need to play those great ol’ tunes and sing those beautiful chest-warming harmonies again while we are still young” came the reply!
The Danglin’ Bros play a mix of finely selected roots inspired covers that blend seamlessly with their many uniquely penned songs that can only be described as ‘Danglinesque’, due to the original flavour that this musical gumbo of like-minded heads, hearts and inspirations bring to the boil.
Don’t miss this opportunity to witness the sweet soul reviving energy that The Danglin’ Bros bring to any stage or record player. Rock & rollers, jivers, punks, bikies, fellow musicians, rock royalty, mums & dads, music journo’s and the guy who owned the fish & chip shop just down from the Bondi Regis Hotel can’t all be wrong, this band of brothers is friggin awesome!
See you in November
Des, Dan, Darcy, Declan and Richard Danglin’!
